Collaborating to Improve HPB Cancer Control in Africa: Prevention, Treatment, Research, and Survivorship
August 12-15th, 2026 Abuja, Nigeria
About AHPBCC
2026 Annual Conference
The mission of the AHPBCC is to expand knowledge of the epidemiology, etiology, pathobiology and prognosis of liver, biliary tract, and pancreatic cancers by:
- Fostering collaborations between researchers and clinicians in different countries
- Providing a framework for the efficient conduct and publication of original pooled analyses
- Providing a forum and framework for discussion, development, and pursuit of new research directions
- Supporting the development of early career researchers and clinicians
The vision of the AHPBCC is to establish, develop, and support the efforts of a highly skilled network of liver, pancreatic, and biliary tract cancer researchers and clinicians on the African continent and worldwide.
About The Conference
The Africa HepatoPancreatoBiliary Cancer Consortium (AHPBCC) will hold its fifth annual scientific conference in Abuja, Nigeria, from August 12-15th, 2026. More than 300 attendees from across Africa and the world will gather the most up-to-date information during basic science, translational, and clinical research along with clinical care focused sessions to harness resources and expertise to address the increasing problem of higher incidence and mortality of hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers in Africa.
We have solidified funds from several foundations and organizations, including an R13 grant award from the US National Cancer Institute. We are currently soliciting additional support. Specific sponsorship opportunities that may be aligned with your organization’s priorities include early-career investigator travel and funding seed grant collaborations between investigators in Africa and investigators from around the world for studies focused on hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers.
The AHPBCC inaugural scientific conference “Transforming HepatoPancreatoBiliary Cancer Research and Care in the Omics Era,” was held in Cairo, Egypt in 2022. The second annual conference in 2023 was held in Accra, Ghana and included 250 attendees from 23 countries participating in nearly 40 hours of conference programming and workshops. The third conference in Mombasa, Kenya saw 264 in-person attendees from 29 countries. Our fifth conference in Johannesburg, South Africa saw 230 attendees from 29 countries. We look forward to building on this success for the 2026 scientific conference in Abuja, Nigeria!
